Product Manager Department Head

The Product Manager Department Head will be responsible for successfully leading a small department of Product Mangers. This role is responsible for providing leadership to other product managers while also acting as a product manager for specific offerings. The product management program and projects will follow ISO standards of management. This position will be ultimately responsible for all product offerings and their adaption to market implementation by thorough understanding of; market demands and direction, customer feedback, limitations of product and manufacturing engineering, limitations of procurement and construction. Furthermore, this position will be responsible for receiving and evaluating feedback from all internal to Prescient stakeholders during development and maintenance of all products.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Act responsible for all physical products. Working knowledge, including studies, for market feasibilities, customer response and requirements, investment costs, execution process, anticipated returns and timelines of implementation will be used to provide direction and guidance for all products.
  • Monitor and control project’s (projects for the Product Management Office); scope, budget, schedule, quality, resources and stakeholder management by means of ISO standards for project management.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Product Managers.
  • Option to potentially act in Responsible Charge, as defined by the project’s state, of structural engineering services. This service, if requested, would be in conjunction with the design department.
  • Be pro-active in suggesting and implementing operational changes, as seen appropriate, that would create economy in design time and material required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Architectural Engineering (ABET Accredited) with structural emphasis.
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET Accredited) with structural depth preferred.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of design experience within the building industry.
  • Civil Professional Engineer registration (PE) by examination with structural depth.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) registration in any state a plus.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) registration a plus.
  • Experience must be with building structural design. Material design experience must include structural steel, light-gauge steel, masonry and cast-in-place concrete. Post-tensioned concrete design experience preferred. Experience successfully implementing the project management body of knowledge
  • Working knowledge of current industry software including Revit, MS Office, RAM Concept, ETABS, ROBOT, LPILE, ENERCALC, SP Column and RISA-3D is preferred
  • High seismic design experience a plus.
  • Business development experience a plus, but not required.
  • Official project and program management training, following ISO standards, a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Has supervisory and management responsibilities over product managers and operational oversight for project implementation.

Work Environment: This position operates in a typical office environment.

Position Type: This is a full-time, exempt level position.

Physical Demands: This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Some light walking around the office is necessary.
